Name: CASA 101
Date: May 7, 2019
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Information session to address the questions and concerns of adult community members who are interested in the possibility of serving abused/neglected children as Court Appointed Special Advocates. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are ordinary people doing extraordinary work for abused, neglected and abandoned children and youth in foster care in our community. As sworn officers of the court, CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to advocate one-on-one for children and youth in foster care. As an Advocate you will be more than just a mentor – you will be a powerful voice for a child or youth during their uncertain journey in the child protective/ foster care system. Learn more about the work Advocates do, the qualifications to become a CASA, commitments involved, how to begin the process of becoming a CASA, and the training and support that are provided. Everyone can't be a CASA. We are looking for the right people... who are passionate about children, are willing to learn, have a schedule that is flexible enough to accommodate the work that must be done, can communicate on a fairly high level with a variety of people in a variety of positions and circumstances, function well as part of a team, and who genuinely have a desire to help a child or children during a significantly difficult time. If you feel you might have such a calling, please join us to take the first step by getting the information. If you can't be there, please contact us to let us know you are interested and arrange to get the information another way.
