Celebration Day for Harvey House 100th Birthday
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Centennial Celebration  with a series of special events planned throughout the day.   
The building which sits next to the Depot was originally part of a chain of restaurants owned by the Fred Harvey Company.  The building now houses the Brownwood Chamber offices and the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions Museum."
The celebration day will feature tours of the building, the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and recently aquired Harvey Girl statue by artist Neil Logan, a book signing and a  showing of the documentary "Harvey Girls:  Opportunity Bound" at the Lyric Theatre.   The Turtle Restaurant in downtown Brownwood will also be offering a Harvey House menu during lunch and dinner. 
There are at least two Harvey Girls, who were waitresses of the time, scheduled to attend the event. These Harvey Girls worked in the Brownwood Harvey House during World War II.
