New this year, the Stars Exhibit is proud to offer one local Brown County student a chance to have one of their works displayed in the exhibit, and win $500. Any Brown County student (public, private, or homeschooled) ages 12-17 years old can submit ONE entry on Friday, January 27th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Depot in Brownwood. Students can enter paintings in any medium, drawings and sketches, or a sculpture piece. Only ONE student artwork will be accepted into the show, and that accepted entry will win the $500 Dr. Joyce R. Wilson Student Award. All other entries will be displayed at the Lehnis Railroad Museum, or the students can take their work home on Saturday, January 28th, when the accepted entries are announced.

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will be open to the public February 5-11th at the Depot Civic Center with the following schedule: from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. There is no admission fee to view the exhibit and the art will be for sale.

The year’s Exhibit would not be possible without the generous support from Visit Brownwood and the City of Brownwood, Texas Bank, The Beadle Family Foundation, United Supermarket, Ann Jones Real Estate, Kohler, Dr. Stephen Kelly, Wendlee Broadcasting, The Arts Council of Brownwood, Scott Coers Photo and Video, and the Women's Club of Brownwood.

Art demonstrations will be open to the public throughout the one-week event. Many local schools visit the exhibit to experience a high level of art, crucial for their education. This year TexasBank and the Beadle Family Foundation have sponsored the art demonstrations in order to continue offering the significant art experience for local students. Art demonstrations will be scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Fridays, during the two weeks of the exhibit and are open to the public with no charge to attend.
