We will be hearing from the new Regional Director of the Tarleton Small Business Development Center, Richard Barden.
Mr. Barden received a BSBA degree, with a minor in Geology, from Waynesburg College, a Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner in 1986. He began work in the oil and gas industry in 1973 and two years later, formed his own company, Barden Land Services, Inc., which provided field-based consulting services to major companies (including Mobil, Exxon, Tenneco, Arco and Consolidation Coal Company, ia) involved in the exploration and property acquisition sectors of the energy industry. In 1991, Mr. Barden started Integrated Petroleum Systems Corporation to develop field-based data collection software for the oil and gas industry. After creating a strategic alliance with Oracle Corporation, IPS ultimately merged with Concord Energy and went public in 1996. Shortly after this merger, Mr. Barden left IPS to start another venture (Graphical Reservoir Modeling Corp.) to develop a completely new technology for reservoir simulation. He continued as the President and CEO of both GRM and BLS until he closed them down in 2021 after joining the SBDC as a senior business consultant. He is now the Regional Director of the Tarleton SBDC.
