An Amazing Opportunity for Kids and Adults To Develop Fiction Writing Skills!

The Brown County Museum of History will host a Meet the Author Night & Writers Workshop on June 28, 29, 30, 2021 with the award-winning author of When the Men Were Gone, a novel about Brownwood in World War II, and based on the true story of female football coach, Tylene Wilson. Offered for kids and adults, (schedule below) the workshops will be personally taught by best-selling author Marjorie Herrera Lewis. Lewis, the first female sportswriter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram who later covered the sports beat for the Dallas Morning News, will share her story of becoming a writer and author, and help kids as well as adults enjoy learning new writing skills in a fun setting.

For Adults: Meet the Author: “Coffee, Pie & Conversation”…Mon, June 28, 7:00pm $10 And see the new Tylene Wilson exhibit unveiled “Writers Workshop” with Marjorie Herrera Lewis …Tues, June 29, 6:30-8:30 $10

For Kids: “Story Maker Workshop” with Ms. Herrera Lewis. . .Tues & Wed, June 28 & 29 Choose either mornings 9 – 11 am, OR afternoons 1 – 3 pm Only $20 per student – for both days, all supplies, and a free copy of the book!
